I started a blog so I wouldn't have to write the same email to everyone I know. But nobody reads it so it's more like a test run for future conversation. That's okay, I'm used to that. Thanks for visiting.

Yes, We're Open
Just finished the first week of shooting for Yes, We're Open, a feature film written by H.P. Mendoza and directed by Rich Wong (of Colma: The Musical and Fruit Fly) and starring Lynn Chen and Parry Shen. Even though I've worked with Rich and HP on a few other films, it's a bit of new terrain for all of us since there are no musical numbers and this time I'm in the director of photography role. Aside from the usual bumps at the start of every new production and with a new crew, things are running quite smoothly. Kinda worryingly smooth, in a way- we blazed through nearly two days worth of shooting on the first day (that's indie film schedule, not major motion picture schedule, in which case we would have covered about a week or so worth) and have been picking up scenes that were much later in the calendar. Encouraging, but I know we've got some tough days coming up. Speaking of getting ahead, H.P. has already cut a teaser trailer from some of the scenes we've shot. There are also some set photos up on Lynn's blog, The Actor's Diet.
