I started a blog so I wouldn't have to write the same email to everyone I know. But nobody reads it so it's more like a test run for future conversation. That's okay, I'm used to that. Thanks for visiting.

Go Ray LaHood!
How can bicycles be as important as automobiles? Bikes only carry one person at a time. Oh, wait a second.
Thanks, Ray LaHood and the Department of Transportation for finally staking some ground for bicycles, bicyclists and livability in general. It's rather unfortunate that Rep. Steve LaTourette (R-Ohio) has to posture with some polarizing soundbites when he has supported bike paths in the past. Maybe what he objects to is bicycles (and walking) as actual transportation instead of just recreation? True, that might actually bring the US quality of life up there with other "modern industrial nation(s)." Next thing you know, people will want universal health care, too (though they might not need it as much since the human-powered transport might make us healthier).
